Arguments for the reduction in unemployment in the UK have ranged from reflation to cuts in taxes (or benefits). Professor Tom Kronsjö (right), of the University of Birmingham, argues that return from work over benefits must be substantially increased if unemployment is to fall. His analysis is provocative, but his figures should stimulate thought and debate.
